Sale Barn

Helped a buddy take three loads to the sale barn today and stayed to watch the auction. Sure wish I had some grass. Two,three and four year old heavy bred great looking Brangus and Angus cows were selling for $300 - $600 :shock: . But then if I had grass so would everyone else around here and people wouldn't be dumping the cattle they have.

Wow, I sure wish we had some grass also. I saw in the Wills Point newspaper where packing houses from up north were coming down here and buying.We are going to take some advice from the good folks on this board and hold 2 years worth of hay-that is after this drought breaks!

Its definitely a buyers market for cows in central Texas. Very few going back to the country, with most going to the packers. Cows are going to packers as far away as Nebraska & Florida. Sad to see nice young cows going to slaughter.
