got what might be a silly question. if i have an unregistered hereford bull and female could i get a dna test done on them and then be able to register the calf? i understand there would be no lineage now and most people would say why do this.

As long as the bull and female both come from registered sires and dams, I can't see a problem. You'll pay through the nose to get it done (depending on age), but it can be done.

You have to be able to trace them back to herdbook volume 13 of 1936, without any outside influence and provide DNA on the sire and dam and get them registered first before you can register the calf.
