Red Dot Optics for Shotguns

Help Support CattleToday:

Any tips on optics for shotguns? I looked at the made in Sweden S-1 Aimpoint but the price tag scared me.
I was taught to keep both eyes open with a shotgun. Did a lot of waterfowl hunting at one time. Not sure how a Red Dot or scope
would affect 2 eye shooting, I do have a red dot on a Marlin 44M lever that works 0K but I may go to a Skinner if I decide to
use it again. Since you never stated what your intentions were with the gun I would say if it is for 'home defense' keep the top
clean as a scope or dot sight could cost life saving time. Otherwise stay tuned as someone may have information for you.

Never tried a red dot but have a set of stick-on fiber optic sights on my turkey gun. I'm bad about lifting my head off the stock and missing high. Rear sight took care of that.

I can't shoot a red dot because of astigmatism, but Vortex and Hawke make some good ones that aren't real expensive.

I have a Red Dot. For turkey hunting it would work pretty good.
A lot of people like Eotec. Not sure if they make a shotgun scope.

I love my ghost ring sights on my 45-70.
