Rain rot & Queensland Itch (in Australia) are the same thing, my miniture horse had it...and what I found finally worked was put her on cortizone for about a week to take care of the severe itching, along with a antifungal ointment on the contaminated areas. And unfortunately for her because in Queensland it is a tropical humid climate most of the year, I have to rug her most of the year...using water proof rugs in summer when we get our rainy season. The rugging stops the bugs that persistantly bite her which in turn also cause her to itch which causes all those raw sores. We have ALOT of bugs and FLYS in Australia and I mean ALOT. Since we started rugging her most of the time she is completely Itch free and sore free. Thank god....
