I don't know anything about Auburn's vet school, but I used to work at the UGA Athens Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Do you know how Auburn rates with respect to them? I'm asking simply because of curiosity.

Supposedly Auburn has the better vet school. This is what Vets told me when i was thinking about going to vet school. All the vets i know have either gone to Georgia or Auburn. I would have gone to Georgia, since i was already there.

Wow! I was very impressed with UGA Athens. To think that Auburn is even better is amazing to me, but I haven't had much experience with veterinary teaching hospitals.

Yup. Auburn's new Large Animal Facility is awesome! One problem they are having is getting enough Large Animal students. Seems not enough guys have good enough grades and the girls want to work with small animals and Horses only.

Makes me wish I was about 30 years younger and a bit more pragmatic. My original goal was to be a vet, but gave it up when I realized I didn't have what it takes to put a perfectly healthy, but unwanted animal down and couldn't afford to take them all home with me. I know, I know - please don't rub it in.

They pretty much did back then, too. Low man on the totem pole got the crappy jobs - weed 'em out philosophy. The ranch house was at the bottom of a big hill and it got to the point that Dad would meet me at the bottom of that hill to see what I had drug home each day. I'll never forget bringing home a sick calf on the passenger side floorboard of his brand-new pick-up. He went ballistic! Fortunately for me, the calf never experienced the call of nature or I would have been toast!

msscamp- Have no regrets concerning your decision. Feel NO guilt! Your reasons for not attending Vet School are the same reasons I rejected the career. Soft-hearted but not soft- headed. If I could not do my best for my patients, I certainly would do NO harm. . . . . . . .but that's another story.
