I have a newbie question - what happens if you don't get both when you put the band on?
ok I know what happens ;-) but what can you do?
how can you repeat - you already got rid of the sack

After you but the band on you count again to insure there are 2. If not, you cut the band off and try again.

If you missed one and don't find that out until the sack is dried up or later once it is gone it will require a knife. Probably best to get the vet to do that since you have to cut into the abdomen.

this is what I had in mind when I asked the question
(haven't had this happen - just wondering after reading this tread)
thanks for the answers - the answers were what I thought they would be...
guess I'd better be very careful to keep counting to two! ;-)

Once I get the tool positioned and both down, I don't turn loose with the light pull between my thumb and index knuckle until the band is released with the other hand. Never missed one when I put the band on. If someone is "helping" me, I have to check.
