Hey Folks....anyone have a really good recipe for pumpkin pie? Had a few nice sweet pumpkins survive the early frost and have made puree. I need a recipe for a really great pie. I like to bake for the holidays and would like to out do myself this year.
Thanks...Dave Mc

This is my favorite pumpkin pie recipe.

Old Fashioned Pumpkin Pie

2 unbaked pie shells
2c. pumpkin (pureed)
2t. cloves
3t. cinnamon
1t. salt
1t. nutmeg
1c. brown sugar
4 eggs, beaten
2c milk
1t. vanilla

Mix all ingredients together. pour into pie shells.
Bake for 10 minutes in a hot oven (375 degrees)
Lower heat to 350 degrees and continue baking for 45 minutes. Or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

If you really want to wow them here is the pie crust recipe that came with this recipe.

Never Fail Pie Crust

Mix with a pastry blender until it resembles crumbs:
3c. flour
1 1/3c lard

Add:
1t. vinegar
1 beaten egg
1t. salt
5T. cold water

mix just until moist.
This will make 2 thick pie crusts or 3 thin ones.
DO NOT SUB SHORTENING FOR THE LARD!
Use a 9" pie pan, any smaller and it will overflow.

Thanks....looks like one I used years ago with wonderfull results, just couldn't remember where I put it.
The crust recipe is what Grandma, a used to make but with our high colosterol Suzie would have a fit if I brought lard into the house.
Will let you know how it turns out....pureed some butternut and will try one with it.
