Proud owner of new heifer

Bought her at the Heart of America Hereford Association sale. this afternoon . She may be border line heavy . She is bred for a jan 14 calf . If she was to slim down some by calving time, will it make any difference on her having a calf with less trouble and milking ability . I'll try to get some pics of her to show. rj

Better check your gestation calendar. A January 14 2014 calf has not yet been conceived.

Would like to think your calf is not like so many April and May calves I have already seen this year(Starting in February!!!)

The gestation period for a cow is 285 days. According to a gestation table, the breeding date for a Jan 2014 calf would be from March 25 through April 24.

Are you sure she wasn't bred in January, and not due in January???
