We have sure needed rain in our area, but I'm beginning
to think it costs too much! The last three decent showers
we have had included a big dose of thunder and lightening.
We have lost a total of 5 head of cattle to get a total of
2" of rain! Whew....expensive stuff!

Dang, that bites! I'm sorry for your loss.

you'll have to pardon my ignorance, but did you lose them because of drought or lightening?

I know what you mean Sevierite about the cost of rain. Aug. 4, we had severe wind accompianied by 1.5in. of rain. Numerous huge trees down. Hundreds of plantation pines(15-20yrs old) snapped or bent beyond redemption. Thousands of 4-5yr. old pines now growing sideways. Spent ALL last week clearing fences, roads, and firebreaks. Not near through yet.

In response to an earlier question, the cattle died from
being struck by lightening. I guess I shouldn't be feeling
so sorry for myself, however. We just visited a friend who
lives west of us who lost eighteen 650 pound steers last
week due to a lightening strike to a tree they were under.
That's too rough!

Sorry for your loses. a few years ago we had an insane storm come through and our neighbor lost almost his whole herd of cattle(small herd, like 20 maybe) because they where all under 1 tree.
