overseeding bahia and coastal with ryegrass

There is bahia and some coastal in the pasture where I want to plant ryegrass for winter cattle grazing. I was going to disk for good soil contact. Will disking down about 1 - 2 inches hurt the bahia when it comes back in the spring?

No but you'll have a bumper crop of weeds. Rye only needs soil contact. It does good drilled but also does good broadcast and harrowed. Assuming you get some regular rain

Nope. It might let some weed seeds come up but that is the only down fall.

as said use the broadcaster to put out your rye grass or notill drill it in.
