Well did anyone see or shoot a big one today? It was 39F and I saw some moving around on the way to town but nothing special like the big black pig at a neighbors feeder this morning. One I got a scope out he turned into a big black hole in a stack of brush next to the feeder.......;(

You talking about quail opener, right?
Right....funny thing about those birds how it's in their DNA to not stop and eat. I think they all just walked right into the Gulf of Mexico and drown.

You might want to try pouring exactly 44 ounces of ice cold mountain dew down the back of your neck. I shot two does after doing this so I have concluded it must be like the Doe In Heat lure only completely different. More ...... exhilarating.

Ours opens up in 9 days or so. I'm truly excited. The state wildlife department is putting out all kinds of praise for their habitat building programs saying that the population is up 30% more than last year. And I checked their math and it seems to be right on.

Saw 0 last year, so 30% more would be 0 and that is exactly what I've seen so far. I'm getting itchy.

I didn't see anything yesterday but some squirrels, and a rabbit. But the weather was not the best, windy, wet, and cloudy. Hope to still find some because I put out 50 back in August.

Youngest son killed a longhorn spike trailing a doe.
Grandson and I saw does, I saw a nice buck this morning.
He would never turn and look my way to tell if he was wide enough, he was plenty high.

Guy I hunt with has gotten bored with a rifle so he carried his pistol and had this one step out and stand 120 yards from him for 10 minutes. All he could do was film it. I hope to get a better still of it when we figure out how to do it. Its a shooter for sure. And no, he will never live it down as long as I have anything to say about it. Am now calling him Matt Dillon.
