I was wondering how many people out there have true "one man cows"... the ones that are all nice to their owners, but dislike anyone else....

I have one that strikes me.. she adores me, comes running from across the field, I can ride her, etc, but she doesn't like anyone else. Even when my mother goes up to her, she kinda sidesteps away with her ears back as if to say "You are not my human, you don't get to scratch my neck", even if I'm there.. and if she's on a halter she'll work hard at pulling away... It's not that she doesn't know my mother, she fed her as a weaning heifer for a couple months. I have a few other biased cows, but none do it with such style and perseverance

I had a bull like that he didn't want any parts of anyone but me no one could get within 30yds to him without him moving away but when he saw my truck or tractor coming down the rd or across the field he followed me like a dog whereas the other cattle just watched me go do whatever I was doing unless I had a bale of hay or something.

Nearest neighbor has a Jersey milk cow like that--as well as a Jersey bull. He can do anything he wants with either of them, but his wife can't even enter their pasture.

Most of us have or have had dogs like that, but I think that is a little different.

I have a couple of one man cows. Now all I gotta do is figure out who he is and see if he wants his cows back.

One of the most seriously funny things ever posted on these boards. :tiphat: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

haha, that is good... all our cows were born and raised on our place. today I went with my mother to the cow I mentioned before and sure enough, she wanted nothing to do with my mother, and fought me when I held her halter. I heard some breeds of cows are more discriminatory than other.. Salers come to mind... they're lucky if they're even a one man cow though

I had one that would go squirrel hunting with me and ole Rube, I am dead serious.
Hit the bottom she would be right with us Rube would tree and the cow would stand right beside me when I would shoot.
It was hilarous. She was a Jeresy milk cow named Buttercup.

Well, I've determined that Mega isn't a one-man cow... she just doesn't like my mother... I had a native come over for some hay, and he came and saw the girls in the corral, and she came along and said hi

Had a Brahman bull like that. This guy was big and vicious looking and I think he wasn't so much a one man animal as it was others that stayed away from him. You could brush his back and he would stand perfectly still and moan (yes, moan) as you hit the sweet spot. He was the closest thing to a "pet" I ever had but because he was so big and tame he would hurt you without even trying - never mean - just lean up against you.

3way. I think maybe you're confusing CB and Buttercup with Sir Loin and Puddin'. :lol2: :lol2:

So my mother is trying to make amends with Mega... with apples, pears and carrots... So far so good, she is coming up to her for them
