Although this probably happens everywhere. Seemed like every time my wife and I went to get off the elevator there was alway one or a few people that would crowd on just as the doors open, before anyone had a chance to get off.

It didn't take more than a couple of times on the elevator before I just put my nose to the door before it opened and stood there until all the outside folks got the message, "let folks get off before you crowd on the elevator". Now, I'm 6'3" + and about 260, I take up a lot of room in an elevator door, I also wasn't worried about saying something to a few folks about elevator etiquette. My wife is 5'4" and about 115 soaking wet, she said at times she's happy to be married to a grizzly bear. :D

That's funny Alan, my wife and I noticed the same thing we stayed ay New York ,New York.

I just started standing in the doorway with my hand up and I'd say firmly "Whoa Mare" when the door opened.

It made me laugh every time, and my wife had to eventually chuckle.

Other than that most everybody we met was very polite.

I find if you break wind in the elevator the other passengers will clear a path for you.

:lol2: :lol2: Fortified defense placement. Crop dusting the people at slot machines is another good strategy as well to make room. :lol2:
