Low gas prices puts more money in the economy which helps all businesses.

Last time they cratered like this we lost over 60,000 good American jobs as well as several
American companies to foreign intrest.

We sure don't need a $10.00 a barrel tax, that much I do know. The oil companies have been screwing us good for years. But I feel for all the workers that are being laid off because of the low price of oil. I can afford to pay a little more for fuel, but this is sure nice.

How many jobs were lost when it was 4.00 a gallon. ?????? Hundreds of thousands I suspect. High gas and fuel effects every single industry and American in America . over paid oil workers are only a tiny fraction of the workers in USA

I agree. Filled up my truck for $42 worth of diesel. 26 gallons. Helps the bottom line when you average 50k miles a year. Can't imagine how much it's helping folks like truckers that ride way more than I do.

You also have to look outside of the pump. Fertilizer is half price now and lime is down $9. a ton.
High oil prices make everything more expensive.

It's helping everyone. I am seeing lower price in Roofing industry and people can afford to fix their houses now. We've been starving to death since 08 . I see small business hiring and expanding cause people have a few extra dollars in their pockets. It is helping everyone directly or indirectly

This is probably a dumb question and the wrong thread, but can you, or has anyone ever forward contracted fertilizer?

M5, I do residential construction from the ground up and everything in between as well as good many metal roofs and we have enough work to last at least 12 months. That's unheard of here. So I agree.

When the price drops enough there is a lot of it happening around here.

I'm not smart enough to make that work. Sure would be nice though.

I think I'm just gonna call them tomorrow and ask if I pay for it now, at current prices, can I get it delivered later on. ? Can't hurt.

This is we're you have been fooled your government makes more off a barrel than the companies.
Do you have any clue how many times that barrel is taxed.

Ive heard that almost .85 of every dollar goes to some form of a tax. Interesting.

The national average is .47 cents a gallon on gasoline at the pump that doesn't include the tariff at the port or the royalties on the government leases. The refinery is taxed along with the pipeline and tank farms.
After 4 decades in the industry it is the hidden income tax that effects everything from a settin of eggs to a roll of toilet paper. The politician will rail against the company raising the taxes lining their pockets.
This is the third downturn I have witnessed last go around we lost our dollars being pumped into overseas companies. We lost Amoco,Arco,Castrol to BP. Citgo is owned by the Venzulians Fina the French, Shell the Dutch, Motiva the Saudis. Mobil was swallowed by Exxon, Phillips by ConocoPhillips
at least they are still American owned and I am not paying overseas socialist programs as we'll.
There is a bunch of smart people on here do the math on the price of crude plus taxes.
Walmart has a better return on the dollar invested. They really pay a good living wage.
Companies don't pay taxes they collect them from us.

I burn 9000 to 14000 gallons of marine diesel per month. When it was over $3.00, a lot in the shrimp business went under. It was a struggle for sure. All the while oil supply companies were building 200ft aluminum crew and supply boats equipped with 3 or 4 V16 Cummins that run 30 knots and burn 300 to 400 gal per hr. Crew boat Captains were making $500 to $800 per day. More power to them!!! They sure had it good but are suffering now. They had their turn. I say low oil makes all production cheaper in the long run.
