This is the forecast for the fishing grounds we venture to here off of Ocean City MD.
30 miles to 200 miles from land. We fish in the 60 mile range.

Look like it will be bumpy!!

Lifes good here, sitting at the dock in Leeville La. waiting to unload a limit of King mackeral. And yes I don't think your going offshore this weekend. The weather has been calm all summer long here. Hope to be done before the storms come. Stay Safe

So, the Navy goes out to sea and fishing boats stay at the dock? At what size ship does it make more sense to try your luck in the open water or leave her tied to the dock?

John, to answer your question...about 60 ft.
I'd fish those seas...if it was about a 60 second period

Don't know what the minimum length is but we always got under way every time three people farted at the same time. The ship/boat was 165'. Couldn't stay tied up to the dock - it would beat the ship to pieces.

Don't know what the minimum length is, but we used to fire up that 500 footer and go out to sea just far enough to buy smokes tax free, :cowboy: , then we would head back for port and tie up :!:
