This is a Round up/ Gather

that's what it was always called where I grew up in a county that was still 'open range' tho most of it was forest.. We gathered cattle. Very rarely (if at all) heard it called a round up.

In that kind of country with that many cows. There was some people who put on a lot of miles horse back to round up them cows. it looks like the cows out in front are lined out. So some of the older cows know where they are headed. And nobody visible riding the flanks.

Must be nice to see the whole group or even the majority of the group at one time. We can go in to 10,000 acres with a group like that and just gotta hope they're still with us when we come out

It isn't that wide open here. Not many miles south it is. Here B describes it as a thinning not a clear cut. They get the majority in the first pas or two but they will still be finding cows in January. I know one year on Super Bowl Sunday (in February) they found a bunch up high that he called the Donner party.
