I had neck surgery myself a few years ago, and never regretted it for a moment. It wasn't as serious a problem as yours, I just had a bone spur pressing on the nerve going to my left arm, causing pain and numbness. When they did the surgery I had instant relief from the symptoms, like they had flipped a switch. The worst part of the recovery was the sore throat from the breathing tube (and not being able to ride or drive for 4 weeks; I did a lot of walking). Speaking of staying home for 4 weeks, it's amazing how little money you spend if you don't go anywhere.
