no hair on calfs face

calf 2-3- weeks old, no hair on face and around ears, gonna treat it for lice, but none of the other calves have this, could it be something else?

A tip the vet gave e the other day, if it looks like dandruff and it's bare, it's probably lice.
Each winter just befoer greenup, some of the cows get lice and others show no signs of them. Same cows each year.

its probably either just shedding baby hair or lice.

I had a calf like that last year, it wasn't lice, there was nothing of the sort on the cow's udder. There was no dandruff or dry flaky skin, it looked like the calf had a very close shave that morning. Hair grew back after about three weeks, and didn't seem to affect the calf, still don't know the cause.

we had 1 this year do the same thing... started losing the hair around the base of the ears and then... balding on the face...

vet said it probably ran a fever from "something" but it resolved itself and we waited for the hair to grow back...

have you vacinated lately? cause we had one that is allergic to what seems like almost everything. it acts fine, it just loses it hair. or most of it.
