The color theme has possibilities. Pink got you all sorts. Red, blue ... Tighten it up a bit if you like and make it things which naturally occur in those colors, so it's not just a lot of cute kids in colored hats. Green could get a LOT of entries. Oh, maybe not in some parts of your hemisphere at this time of year - mind you, down here there's a lot of area in drought, which also isn't green.

Innovative "repurposing" of old stuff?

Macro photos - did that already happen a long while ago? Good fun though if you get things whose identities aren't immediately obvious close up.
