need limi suggestion

Going to look at producing a few lim flex bulls to go with my registered angus bulls.

Genex, ABS, Semex, Select Sires, Accelerated Genetics all come my way. Any suggestions on a bull to start with? Looking for 6 frame, polled for sure, primarily would be used for lim flex seed stock bull production - not so much cow production. Calving ease is always helpful but don't want to go overboard and sacrifice too much masculinity.

ABS has ROMN Justice. We have a nice daughter of him. She is a no miss cow that always produces a great calf. A few web searches will come back with lots of info on him. Also, may want to check out limigene.com and grassrootsgenetics.com. These are the major carriers of Limousin genetics.

Try KRMC 917B.......I had his brother KRMC 265H,,,,,,,that was a heck of a black bull for me.......If you look at the bloodlines of a lot of the Limi bulls and cows coming out of the Express Limousin operation you will see that they carry the 917B blood...the dam of thsi bull was HoliJo she was a maternal trait leader for many years , and still is highly ranked.....Your offspring will be polled and black with a great deal of muscle...If you want to go the fullblood route try Velocity

Best advice yet is to contact limigene or grassroots. A nice fullblood bull to use is willow creek excel. He is Homo polled. Velocity semen will cost you about 60.00. Herman Symens of limigene can and will help you select the best bull for what you want to do.

Farmgirl, I am sure the bull is dead by now, the last shown owner of Krmc Black Legacy 917B was George Family Limousin in West Virgina ........another good bull to use and he is still kickin is Baxter.....one of our board members Bill Helton owns him and he is a very sharp cattleman

I know the difference between purebred and full blood - but what will "heterozygous" vs "homozygous" get me whether it's related to color or horns?

Baldie maker i raise Fullbloods and can't tell you alot about the black bulls. If he suits you give him a try.

I'll give my vote to Baxter as well, I have seen him and his offspring and he does a good job. Bill has had some nice LimFlex calves, he can steer you in the right direction.
