NBC says 2000 cattle dead?

Many (common folk) people don't understand the real effects of global warming, and the snowball effect it has on agriculture and livestock.
This year is the first time the government and USDA is actually acknowledging the problem. There is a climate change research currently underway to study the full effects on agriculture.

I think most on here have heard all the global warming BS we want to hear.There have been ongoing socalled "scientific studies" going on for many years. It's nothing new. A huge majority of scientist now agree it's BS and exposing those trying to get rich off it. Wasn't too many years ago we were being told a new ice age was coming.

Oh they know. But the $$ is in the gain. Since feedlot cattle are terminal anyway it's not that much of a concern and they probably have a certain % loss calculated in....but it's one of the major reasons dairy cattle last less than 3 lactations.

Yep, just keep your dead pile to a certain height and you're okay.

And then wonder why the animal welfare crowd complains and fewer people eat beef. I hope they put the loss of beef eaters and demand into their % loss calculations.

I am amazed at how well the cattle industry does in spite of it's efforts to kill it's market.

I heard journalist Michael Pollan on PBS telling his story of driving down the freeway in California and wondering what the awful smell was. He finally realized he was driving by a feedlot and began investigating what was going on there. My question was why cattlemen would put a smelly feedlot by a freeway and have thousands daily associating beef with stink.

In a study comparing feedlot animals that had access to shade to a control group that did not, Mitloehner reported that animals with access to shade spent the majority of daylight hours under the shade.

Wow! I'd have never guessed. When it's hot, cattle prefer the shade!

How come nobody mentioned this in the thread of what they want researched.

The research does try to justify the shade economically. Unfortunate that animal welfare is only considered if it is cost effective from a narrow perspective. In addition to considering increased daily gain, they ought to include improved image and more beef eaters, creating more demand and more money.

How come the angus journal didn't study the effect of black hide on heat stress?

I read in 1 report the average temp. in the Antartic is -55, [thats below zero, for you global warming believers]. If that's so and the temp. has only went up 0.4 of a degree in 50 yr., how much melting went on? The Danish Meteorological Institute is publishing sea-surface temperatures from the Arctic showing a cooling trend in the Arctic oceans during the melt season since 1993. The Russians say that the Arctic has its own 70-year climate cycle. The files of The New York Times are filled with stories from the 1920s
-1930s showing that the Arctic was as warm then as now. The sunspot index started predicting the cooling in 2000. In 2008, NASA said the Pacific had shifted into its cooling mode. The history of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation indicates a 30 year cooling phase, the opposite of the 1976-98 warming trend. So ask me if I believe the BULL SHITE that Al Gore and others are spouting is true?

The big "to do" is over the rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere. I've got news for these idiots, when organic matter breaks down, it doesn't matter if it is ran through a cow, chicken, hog, human, or just laying out there on the ground, it releases CO2. There are two major producers of CO2: burning fossil fuels, and the normal breakdown of organic matter.

If you owned allot of stock in coal, oil, or gas and didn't want to give up your private jet, stretch limo, or three mansions with a thousand lights each, would you rant about the other. These big speeches that are being made, are being made by and to an audience that is in the same boat as he is in, one that is totally detached from reality.
