Moonshiners

There are some documentaries that are pretty good to watch. If I can remember correctly, I think the one called "the last one" or something like that was really good.

We've seen a couple of episodes of the show, but what we can't figure out is how any of these guys (the 'shiners') agreed to be filmed. How can that be done without them being arrested?

I know that none of the folks in my neck of the woods wouldn't participate in anything that put their faces on TV while making "the recipe".

I really think that the show is "fake." There is no way in helll that anyone would load a still and drive it into the woods in broad daylight. Then go on and advertise that they are a fire chief at the local fire department all the while being taped by a film crew. Its all for ratings. Nothing real about it cept for the stories and legend of Popcorn.

Because it's all B.S. I watched it for the first and last time last night. I agree about Mr. Sutton but the rest of the show is pretty lame and actually an insult to the trade.

Fitz- I would have to disagree about you living in the wettest county in the world. I think that I'm in the wettest county. :(

If KT ain't kin to the local folk he must be kin to the Revenue man.

Oh great!! Now you've just blown his 'cover'! If we don't hear from KT anymore we'll have you to blame, and good luck on any of us finding him. :lol2: :lol2:

I am guessing that your time in Arkansas has honed your skills in recognizing the aforementioned phenatype.

We were kinda thinking that perhaps its 'staged' or 'scripted' to an extent.

On all these so called reality show you have to keep in mind that there is always a camera and a crew in the background and a performance is being delivered. Sure doesn't raise the IQ of some of the "actors" tho.

Well, I guess that you are right in the heart of shine Fitz. I guess that your "wet" is better than knee deep mud. Merry Christmas to you and your family down there in VA.

A buddy of mine (also surname Thomas) went back to the county in NC from which his family originated. He was high school aged at the time and his remark was that there was NO ONE in the county he could ask out if he wanted to live with the "no closer than 2nd cousins rule".

They are filming this show about 30 minutes south of me. Interviewed the ATF agent on our local news when the show first came on, he said there was absolutely no "shine" made during the taping of the show. i watched about 10 minutes of one episode, that was all I could handle.

But its not illegal to be crazy dumb and run a 40k lb rig over ice or fish in 40 ft seas in -20f water.
Im sure they were dramatized and edited but probably not fully scripted like the shiners show.
