Phew. Well no matter what I do, I can't keep the chooks out of the medicated calf feed. Then I find out that I can't put chook pellets at the calf shed so the chooks eat them instead because they are restricted animal material.
So, its either get rid of calves, or build a big, expensive fence.
But I've figured out one alternative. The main problem I have is chooks eating medicated calf feed while I'm selling the eggs. If the calf feed isn't medicated, there's no problem. My dad (steveaust) has tons of malt combings. He suggested I mix malt combings and molasses as an alternative to the medicated calf grower pellets.
Is this nutritionally deficient? What else needs to be added so it is as good as calf pellets?
Thankyou.
Brett.
