Is lutalyse safe to give to a heifer that's too small to breed and may not be cycling yet, but you know has been around a bull? Just as a precaution? She's old enough she *might* be cycling.

I don't want to mess up anything inside her - but at the same time I don't want to deal with her possibly being preg at this size.

Yes, I have given them. Sure as everything she will be cycling after the shot.

We give all the heifers Lutalyse at weaning if there was a bull on that farm. Haven't noticed any ill effects. Lets me sleep a little easier, though.

Well then I'll give her the lutalyse - just in case. She was pastured with some smaller heifers away from the bulls, but boss has been having problems with the neighbor's bulls crossing the fence. Had a red angus running with the milking herd for about a week. And I did see that particular bull in the pasture with the heifers once or twice. Boss ran him out promptly, but you can't be around all the time...

Anyhow, thanks. I'll give it to her today. Better safe than sorry, right? :)
