LUMP ( photos )

Help Support CattleToday:

~~

Vet comes Saturday for our annual Fall roundup.

Thursday we start moving the herd from the top of the mountain down closer to the main barn.

They "should" all be near the corrals by Saturday morning at sunup.

I will keep you all posted on the outcome.

Good Morning,

This 5 month old heifer came up to the home field yesterday with this lump above her hoof. ( right rear )

She was treated for foot rot in July in the opposite foot.

Does this kind of lump look familiar to anyone ?

What is it and how did you treat it ?

Thank you.

Hello All,

Today was the annual big Fall round-up at the farm.

We started really really early in hopes we could beat the rains and wind from Hurricane Noel.

I was in charge of the head gate, wormer, tagging and book keeping so I had no time to even take the camera out of my pocket when she was in the chute.

However, I did manage to take a quick photo of the herd as they came down the hillside headed for the barn and I have blown it up so you can see some of what I am explaining.

So here is the narrative on this heifer:

There is a big hole right in the middle of where the lump use to be. It has drained out 99%. There is no longer a lump, it is almost totally flat and she walks and runs just fine.

Vet said it could of been anything and to leave it alone.

He did initially say "snakebite" when he saw her coming, and then said no, it isn't.

Sorry I couldn't get an answer for all of us.

I still feel this chapter isn't closed yet.
