Lost Digits

Treated a sick calf of my neighbor's once and ended up cutting my index finger on her tooth, wiped my finger on my pants (it was bleeding) and continued on with chores. About 6-8 months later the finger was real sore and looked like a cherry on the tip. Went to the doc and had about 7 forms of bacteria in my blood and ended up with chronic osteomyletis, they put an IV to my heart for 8 weeks with some cocktail made up from an infectious disease control doc and the shipped it to me as they made it. had to administer it by myself. To make a long story short they should have taken the finger it is useless and all mangeled looking. I have a bottle of alcohol placed everywhere, barn truck and shed now, no matter how little the cut or scrape i wash with it!

OOWWW! Two of my dad's brothers have the same finger missing on opposite hands. They are only about a year apart in age and they like to tell people that their dad did it to them on purpose so that he could tell them apart. They both lost their fingers on the same kind of machinary on different farms. That was back before they reattached fingers. One of my dad's other brothers had an eye put out farming.

The wife of a guy I went to college with stepped off a combine and caught her wedding ring on something. Pop, no more ring finger.
I keep trying to warn people that wearing one of those wedding rings will come back to bite you in one way or another.

Lammie I was in the cedar thicket above the river bottom today, creeping along and cutting staves with a chainsaw. I thought about this thread and snickered. Can't say I came out unscathed, because I have scratches everywhere, but all my digits are still attached.

Lost part of the right thumb back in my butchering days.

Only lost the tip of the left index finger in a mower and was climbed by a bear cub the same wekend. Just broken bones, a few stitches and alot of duct tape repairs. Some extra parts and plumbing but still can count to twenty, twenty one on occasion. Been lucky never drove or flew faster than my guardian angel could fly, suppose I should have cashed in a time or two but am greatful. DMc

Splitting firewood in a shake mill with the shake splitter for fun. Sewed the thumb back on, but it's a pos. Watched a chaser get a log dropped on his steel toe boots one time. He wasn't awake when we thru him in the crummy. Guess he was missing a few. Never did see him again. All kinds of funny things happen in the woods.....

Lost half my pinky on my left hand and almost severed the ring finger next to it as well.Chunk of steel come lose in a vice I was grinding..Doc reattached it but it was a waste of time it don,t work .Has no feeling in it either

Wearing a ring had nothing to do with my injury as I was,nt wearing one...not enough sleep ,had everything to do with it.but hey I bet your so perfect you always get enuff rest too

I broke my right pinkie finger when I was little. It just doesnt extend correctly any more. I lost my left pinkie toe about a year ago in what I call the "tredmill incident" I have lost a total of 5 toenails and 1 fingernail due to varius reasons (rocks in a river(1), cows(2), tredmills (2), and for the finger...a door.) And I broke three of my toes on my right foot last summer when a show cow stepped on it at twisted...crunched em really good.Yep..thats about it.
