Lost a one month old bull calf out of my best registered cow. Took him to Kord clinic and they called back this afternoon said he had a ruptured intestine due to grass/milk being packed in. There was no foreign objects they said. Said they are going to check for possible bacterias that may have started the obstruction. Hoping they don't find anything that could have come from water/soil.

I hate to hear of anyone losing Livestock but it sure hurts worse when it was one you had some special breeding invested in.

It seems it is usually the good ones. Had a calf this summer out of my best registered Angus cow and a bull we had to sell last winter. We were going to keep him. Went down to check them after a rain when he was almost 4 months old and lightning had hit him the night before. My Dad always said don't own them if you can't afford to lose them. At least I knew what killed him and that it wasn't contagious.
