This bunch of elk starts wintering on a neighbor's property along the river every Fall. They cause a lot of damage to local hay fields, hay barns, and fences. The state wildlife dept.'s plan for many years is that -0- elk should be in this area, but that one neighbor has pretty much protected them, and allows no hunting on his property, so they come back year after year, and run a circular route from his property, across the river, onto other properties, tearing up hay barns, then across the river again, to the nextdoor neighbor's hay barn, and then often through our property and fences to cross the RR line and get back to safe harbor. Couple days ago, they got run out of the "harbor", crossed the river, hoofed it upriver a few miles, then crossed back over again. But it'll only take them a few days to get back into the neighborhood. Yes, we've got a couple of damage tags again this year. http://komonews.com/news/local/large-herd-of-elk-caught-on-camera-crossing-the-yakima-river
