By next year, the polar ice caps will be melted.
We the people can stop that only if we tax diesel $5/gal so the gov can subsidize organic energy like solar, wind and the green party.
Taxation of anything and everything is good isn't it? Tax whisky and you will no longer go blind drinking it. Tax business and they close their doors and no longer pollute our streams.
Speaking of taxation, I heard on the news that Italy is in real bad shape right now. A few months ago I was drinking with a friend from Italy and I asked him how bad things really were there. He laughed and said it wasn't bad at all. Said the people had plenty of money but because taxation was so bad people have resorted to only dealing in cash and bartering for goods and services to keep the government's hands off their money. He went on to say that their version of the IRS is actually auditing customers who leave shops to be sure they actually have paper receipt and by law you have to keep your receipt at least 30 minutes after leaving the store else you will be fined. For some reason I thought this interesting and for some reason I also see this as a possible solution to global warming or something.
