Is frame getting too moderate?

Don't really have any data or reason why, except that the market boards play a huge role in the prices and we don't have not much of a difference in feeder calf prices right now from Sept. to Nov. $1.13 to $1.15. and from Oct. to April in the Live cattle markets they are identicle. If they can lock in a profit they will do it.

You didn't reference weight at those figures. Help me out.

Usually feeder cattle are from somewhere around 700lbs to 1000lbs and live or fat cattle are the processing weights

How about 800 pounders at $1/# and 1000 pounders at $1/#. That's what you said. I don't think I can be any clearer.

Yes that is what I said and that is what happened. The boards were different last year. But feeder cattle run from 700 lbs to 1000lbs. The boards are about the same price now and then for both of these weights. That is why they bring the about same per lbs.

Show me where you get the same price for a 800 vs. a 1000 pounder.

Go to http://www.samson-inc.com then click on markets, then click on CME 10-Minute Futures Quotes Feeder Cattle Futures. These weights are from around 700lbs to 1000lbs. or somewhere close to that. You will see that that Sept. settled at $115.45 and Nov. at $112.950. Then go to CME 10-Minute Futures Quotes Live Cattle Futures. You will see that Oct. settled at $86.250 and April settled at $87.8250 That means the lighter weights that will take longer to get to the kill weight, will be killed in April, & will bring somewhere around $88 and then the heavier calves that go in Oct. will bring somewhere around $86. Very close to the same price.

I thought this was where you were you were getting your numbers from. You should have said it up front.

Have you ever sold a feedlot calve at 800 # for the same price as a 1000# steers?

Want to deal in averages within a certain range? Docked or upgraded outside?

Your seems like magic to me.

Yes, that is where my original statement came from. I said I had a customer who sold 800lbs calves for the same $ per lbs that he sold his 1000 lbs calves.

And I'm trying to make more money than I am today and you can really help me get there quicker if you can tell me how this is possible.

He took them to auction and that is what they brought. The buyers used the boards and this is how high they bid. I can't explain it any better.

Since you won't look it up. I'll try. Doesn't make sense to me that someone trying to make money on cattle would pay the same $/# for the same quality animal at a 200# differential. Of course I not as versed on the boards as you and "many horses".

It all has to do with what time of the year they are selling. If the Nov. Board is higher than they will bring more. or vice versa.

You said same day 800 and 1000 pounders bring the same money.
