Cigarettes that is. Not a phony New Years Rez. Just calling it quits.

Anyone else done it lately?

I need to. You may be my inspiration.

Good luck to you there Crowder.

I have tried several times, and failed miserably. At this point in time, I have cut it by half and have maintained that level for 3 months now.

Good luck, I hope you succeed.

I'm about to get my mind right.

Tired of the cost.

Tired of the coughing at night.

Tired of sitting in the Smoking area.

Tired about worrying of running out of em'.

Tired of wondering when they'll kill me.

Tired of smelling like a incenerator.

I want to see my Kids grow up.

Thanks, Katherine. I've never been able to just cut back.

My problem is I enjoyed them.

Quit cold turkey 5 years ago after 35 years. Hang in there you will make it but it's going to be tough. You want regret it though. ;-) P. S. Best of luck!

Man I been trying for a long time. Problem is I kinda like em or at least i think I do. Said I would only smoke when i drink, not good idea....smoked more!. I'm trying the patch next.

Quitting is easy. I've done it hundreds of times. Not starting up again is the hard part. Good luck, Crowder. As Wewild said, you can be our inspiration.

My resolution is to drop 30 lbs and then work on the cigarettes. Too weak to do both at the same time.

Good luck Crowder! One of the things you listed is seeing your kids grow up, better then kids growing up (IMO) is seeing and enjoying your grandkids. That's a hard one to explain unless you have grand children. I quit drinking cold turkey 10 yrs ago, 10 to 15, 18 beers a day, it can be done.

One day at a time.

I know you can do because I did it. I was raised a good Morman boy that neither smoked nor drank. I went into the Navy and that changed everything. After going through Viet Nam in the "Brown water Navy" I smoked and drank like nothing you can know. Just decieded enough was enough and quit. I still aint went back to being a Mormon though, That was my folks thing.

I found cutting back to be easier than the cold turkey. I figure I'm due for another cut. The plan this time to continue to make cuts until I stop all together. I also need to find a reason to hate them.

Give it your best shot Crowder. There are many successes out there. Both my parents quit, 2 of my brothers quit, 2 BIL quit, 2 SIL quit, a few co-workers have quit and all have been successful. If your wife is not a smoker maybe that will help. My husband never started (smart man).

I wish you the best.

Don't know what they cost in other states but Texas is adding a $1.00 a pack Tax Jan. 01 2007 will cost $4 to $ 5 a pack depending on where you buy them, I don't think that will stop people who are hooked on them to stop, you have to want to,

An old farmer said he went to his doctor, told him he wanted to quit smoking--again. The doctor told him to look at the almanac and when it says to wean calves, etc. That's the day he should quit. His reasoning is it's a 'habit' for those calves and it's a 'habit' for him??? Just a thought! Maybe it's just a target date. It worked for him.

Crowder, good luck on guitting smoking. I quit smoking in July 2005 without ever realizing it. I just found myself not smoking and never thought about it. That was after smoking as many as 4/5 packs a day and rolling my own too. I smoked for a total of about 45 yrs. Just stop thinking about the cigarettes or what ever you're smoking.. About 2 mo. after I had had stopped smoking, I found out I had lung cancer and now have lost 1 lung. Just quit while you are still ahead.

Good Luck

I am really bad with time, most people remember how many years it's been since they quit, I am a little unsure. I think this Jan. will be 6 years. Believe it or not (it does sound hokey) I went to a hypnotist with my husband, we both decided to quit. I also bought a little aromatherapy vial that was supposed to help take away cigarette cravings, believe it or not it really did help. I quit the first time and I had been smoking over a pack a day. What really worked for me though was I told EVERYONE I knew. Then I couldn't go back on it.
My husband went a week then started again - then really regretted starting again. He just quit again about 3 months ago and so far so good.:)
It is a hard thing to do but it is worth it. I'm going to make a point of praying for you this week Crowder. You can do it and don't let anyone (even yourself) tell you that you can't.

Good for you Crowder. You will feel so much better.

My dad quit cold turkey when I was a kid. He chewed gum instead. You also might get a rubberband to put on your wrist and whenever you feel like you want to go pull up a tree out of the yard with your bare hands, work that rubberband to get the frustration out. Go minute by minute, then hour by hour, etc...

I think the main thing is to make up your mind to do it. Oh, and don't drink for a long time, you'll want one if you do.

You will probably have to "up" a couple of other vices in order to compensate (ie: whiskey, gambling, racing and chasing..etc.) :D
