I hear . . . the sound of a not-too-distant backhoe . . .

Can I offer a tip on setting it up? Gates then more gates.
Agree, Jo. We have a ton (tons by weight) of heavy blind gates, that we can use for either gates or alleys. They are 16 footers, so we'll probably have to get some shorter ones -- we aren't running 100 head through gates.

The sweep system went in today. The alley(s) and cut-out gate bows don't seem to match up. And we already went through this with PR and we switched alley bows to get the right ones. If they can get replacements to us fast -- fine. If not, we'll re-do here.

PR will send brackets, which are different from the rest of the set-up, to hook up the cut-out gate. We'll have to weld them on, but won't have to fabricate them or cut and paste.

This is sounding like its going to be a nice setup. Now if you get to the point you need to jury rig something - I'm your man!

Progess continues. Most of the heavy posts are set; panels almost all set for pens/alleys and gate posts, and the squeeze is in place. Need to bring some gates in (the more, the better). It's a sloppy mess out there now! And we'll move the perimeter fence out aways, and replace those posts, too.

All mfg'd heavy gates are in place. We put in lots of them, Jogeephus. Waiting for the "slam" latch mechanisms to get here; then we can quickly open/close in either direction. We're also extending the cattle yard perimeter fence another 12-16 feet past the handling equipment, towards the main pasture, which will give an enclosed area, adjacent to the barn and with handling facility inside the yard, and accessible by several perimeter gates to 2 pastures and at least one load-out gate, of about 150 X 200 or so (3rd, small pasture access is via one of the others). And, yes, all the pastures have exterior/boundary gates. Yes, will get pictures figured out once it's all done, and that may be next weekend!

Today . . . Cold (28), and snow. Still, got some holes drilled and RR ties set for perimeter fencing from the barn out past the handling facility. Note to self: When finding help to do that stuff, find someone who's daily exercise is not key-boarding.
