With all the trouble in Louisiana I thought I'd go and give some blood. They gave me a book about blood donation to read. I think I'd had had to carry the thing home to give it a proper read so I just scanned through it and got the gist of what they were saying. I was then directed to another station where they asked a bunch of personal questions. The first one that caught me off guard was what was my race. I knew the nurse wasn't blind because she was staring at a computer but then I blew it off because I work outside and am fairly dark and could pass pass as a mexican or an indian but I did ask why race mattered. Blood is blood right? She explained some things that sounded plausible. Then she asked what gender I identified with! WTH does this have to do with anything????!!!!! I wanted to unzip my britches and show her what God gave me because she, afterall, is a nurse and should have taken some anatomy but I figured it was best to just leave before I was escorted out of the building.

Has our government's attempts to appease an insignificant portion of society led us to this nonsense? I just had to leave and go to my safe place. :hide:

Guessing they may do it for statistical purposes but that should be optional and it don't matter.

HAHA then apparently they never got unprotected homo sextual relationships or drug use questions

I guess it's best I left when I did. Unescorted.

Country has lost its mind.

Have you been to the doctor's office and had the screening nurse ask if you own any guns?

You might consider saying to her "honey if you are into girl on girl I can't help you but I can watch"

 ...seriously?
If a joke went over my head my apologies.

Absolutely true
She is going thru her questions and ask if I owned any guns
I asked if she was kidding
She said no
I told her it is none of her d business
Then I said I'm sorry I would like you to put down "based upon my rights afforded under the 2nd Amendment I respectfully assert my right to not answer the question
She said I'm sorry but the rules that came in under Obamacare she had to ask
That is why if they ever ask if you are feeling down never say yes
That could easily become I'm concerned he is suffering from depression and in Illinois the State Police will be asking for your FOID card which you have to have to keep guns

That's the 5th amendment red angus :tiphat:

Joe you dropped the ball. You should've had fun with that one
'Well my name is Joe, but I answer to Jolene. And I use whichever bathroom has the shortest line"

You are right. I did drop the ball. I hate it when that happens because after I left I thought it would have been appropriate to have said, "well now, that's a good question, I'm not sure what sex I identify with today so let me just come back tomorrow after I figure it out". This shyt has gotten insane. I'm trying to GIVE blood to help someone and they seem more concerned over the identies of the giver. Its BLOOD!

The other day on the news our Governor pleaded with people to donate blood. Evidently we have a zero day supply. As soon as someone donates it goes to the hospital and into a person.

Maybe you could go back with some jokes? Thanks for thinking of us Jo.

JW, I hope you will at least give me an A for effort. Its a shame such a small portion of our society has made it where so many silly questions must be asked so we don't offend this minuscule segment of society. BTW - I will be sending the Salvation Army a check next week and I'm sure they will put it to good use to those effected in Louisiana. They didn't ask anything but if I'd be willing to help again. I like this and like how they are run.

It is purely ridiculous the amount of here nor there questions asked for just about anything these days. I thought that line of questioning was what the census was for.

I give blood every eight weeks-just automatically sign up after each donation. I have never been asked with which sex I identify. Race is important because certain conditions are race specific--cycle cell anemia for example and blood from Africans has to be tested for that, I suppose. And yes they do ask a lot of HIV related questions. Even give me a way to state that my blood should be used only for research, not transfusions. It's a pain in the neck but if I were on the receiving end I'd be D*** glad they take such precautions. Never been asked if I own a gun. But have been asked, by doctors, if I have hand rails on my stairs and in the bath tub. I appreciate the concern. I suppose if I said it was none of their business they'd just smile and move on.
