Horsenettle - cimarron

Help Support CattleToday:

Since our chemical company deals with mostly rice and soybeans they called Dow and their crop specialist said use Cimerron Max. At their direction I used rate two which called for one ounce of Cimerron Max and four pints of liquid for twenty gallons to cover two acres. Figure pack will cover approx ten acres. Cost is approx. $15.00 per acre. I will post how this does.

Either cimmaron is the slowest chemicle I have ever seen in my life to kill a weed, or it's just not going to kill at all. I only put 1/3 ounce to the acre. The guy at the feed store recomended 1/4. Neither of the two amounts seemed like very much. I'm leaving for a conference, and want be home for almost a week. Maybe I'll see some change when I get back.

The pasture specialist at Dow for our area told me to mix 1/2 oz. with I think four pts. Of the 2-4-d that comes with it. I am not sure of my kill either. He said it might take up to three weeks. Will let you know.

If the weed is a broadleaf, try 2,4-D first. It is cheap and plentiful and it leaves no residue or grazing problems.

2,4-D by itself does a poor job on horsenettle. This is the first time I have used GrazonNext and it did a good job for me this year.

Cimarron Max has been on the Horsenettle in my pasture for close to two weeks. It appears it is going to work. Will advise final results. Very slow acting.

Weeds with large healthy root systems always take longer to die. The root has to die before the upper part of the plant or all you're doing is slowing it's growth.

The Cimarron Max is doing a very good job on my Horsenettle. It is slow but is killing the plant and roots.

What kind of container was your cimmaron in? Was it a granual, and a liquid?

Have a pretty bad horse nettle infestation in one pasture. Any idea how long after spraying you have to wait to cut hay?

Wanted to let everyone know that the Cimarron Max did a great job on the horsenettle in my pasture. Works very slow.
