Oh my gosh!!! I got up and checked on a calf this morning about 6 o clock that was dead in the same way. I gave antibiotics on sunday and mon and tues. he seemed fine. Wednesday he had just a little blood in his poop. Vet gave me a bag of meds and i admistered them. Calf seemed better on Friday morning but today laid down and died. This is weird.

Ask your vet to post him. It can't cost too much and you will then know. We took our calf in instead of having the vet come to the farm and it only cost $25.00. Worth that and more to know what caused it.

If it was a young calf then it was possible it never got over the initial infection. I have seen many a calf recieve a couple of days of antibiotics and die within a week.
