I just brought my new show steer home from the ranch. He was fine for a the last two days and now has bloody stool. It is not diarreha(sp?) it is hard there is just a little blood in it. I do not know what to do, Counld this be life thretaning? i have never had anything like this happen to me before. Any help would be great.

Calmly. Call your vet and ask him/her. Make sure you know what he's had to eat recently.

He is probably just getting a slight case of coccidiosis. Buy some Corrid, and put the recommended amount in his water supply. He will be fine in just a few days.

i agree the corrid will kick in in a few days and he should be fine. just keep an eye out on him. just add the right amount to the water and step back and watch it work!

Calves will sometimes lose the intestinal lining .. resulting in passing blood. It's not generally life threatening, but you'll need to watch him and make sure he doesn't go off his feed, or run a fever.
