yall are funny... (and other things)
linebreeding is an advanced concept in registered breeding stock. anybody can throw unrelated popular animals into the mix and get average results. the breeder that linebreeds is doing you a favor and if this is a common theme to most of his breeding stock, you have nothing to worry about and the calves should be better for it.
a linebreeder breeds tightly for a few reasons: a big reason is to get a consistent calf crop. another is to get rid of hidden problems that outcrossing covers up (think of recessives stacking and producing the freak yall are so paranoid about). a resultant reason is for homozygosity which takes much more work and patience. this gives much less variation and leads to the elusive prepotency which every breeder should strive for .
i dont claim to be a linebreeder, but i do try to understand the reasons for it and appreciate the hard work some people put into their animals.
