I am grassing steers and heifers together. Is there a product to use so the heifers won't cycle. If there is how long after they stop taking it will they begin to cycle again because I plan to breed some of the heifers late next summer.

There is a feed additive called MGA. It has been used by feedlot operators for many years to suppress heat cycles in heifers. It is widely used for sycronization programs now. The heifers will cycle shortly after you stop feeding MGA, but you do not want to breed on this cycle. It will be an infertile cycle. Wait for the next heat to breed. I am not sure if there is a limit on how long you can feed it and still breed them. In our area, you can buy MGA from the feed mills, but you have to order it ahead of time. Jeanne
