Let me preempt this by saying I don't do holidays. I celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, and after that nothing. So, it's no wonder that Halloween is lost on me.

We had our first Trunk or Treat ever at church last night. Wasn't even Halloween. A small country church of 35 people, drew in about 250 kids in costumes. Just about every parent dressed up as well. Our members loved it, and seemed to embrace the fun of dressing up. This morning at work, looks like I'm one a few that did not participate. Whats up with Halloween, and when did it get so big?

We have a lot of people that dress up here at work. I wear my work clothes and say that I'm a medical professional. I was thinking about wearing jeans and a t-shirt and that my costume was me after work, but I don't know if my manager has enough of a sense of humor or not. Honestly, it's lost on me as well, but as long as people are having harmless fun, it's their money to waste. Our son loves to dress up and we take him trick-or-treating (which is awkward for me to ask strangers for candy) and that's pretty much it. He has fun, so I have fun, but I don't dress up. I'm an adult, I'm too old for that stuff.

Thru the years I have read and read. Pagan rituals. Oktoberfest and harvests. Christians trying to influence pagans and accepting their holiday.

I wasn't around back then. LOL It appears to be a blend of lots of things, for the most part. But it didn't originate here in America so we just seem to make it what we want it to be. And then we rationalize what it means.

Absolutely.....way back in the 7th and 8th century but you're right, not in America. Catholics were banned in America for a while. We will have a special mass for "All Saints Day" as every other year.

Edited to add: I assume you consider the last 3 to be a crock. And yet you are a Christian. Judaism does not recognize Christ but Islam does.
