Hello,
Has anyone ever seen cows with hairless patches? 4 of my 13 cows have these irregular spots about 12 inchesx4inches with absolutely no hair around the shoulders and the butt.
I have never seen that. I recently moved them to a new pasture and that's when it started happening. One of the cows' skinless patches look reddish as if it has bled but just under the skin. She's white so that's why it stands out.
None of the other cows have the problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Andrew

I think ringworm would look similar except for the redness.

We just weaned some calves saturday and noticed several of them have ringworm.

I had a few in one pen that had lice but I didn't want to pour them because of the withdrawl as they were ready to be shipped. I ended up moving them from a feedlot pen to a small pasture with trees. Within a day they had rubbed what seemed half their hair off.

To me the ringworm looks more crusty. And the big hairless patches from lice itch look irritated, and the skin peels some, but not the raised crusty, noticeably round places like with ring worm.
