Hair loss on ears

My little sister in law bought a 4h steer off of me this year and just recently he started losing hair on his ears. I don't notice any hair loss anywhere else or on any calves in my herd. Was hoping someone may have an idea as to what is causing this.

Any possibility of lice? It wouldn't seem likely up north there with the cold and snow...Maybe a mineral deficiency? Is it in with other calves? Really don't know just trying to throw a few things out there.

Could possibly be lice, its still a problem once in awhile. He's in with 3 other calves and they were all ivomeced in October. I don't think they are mineral deficient but it's something to look into. Thanks farmerjan.

Lice would be my guess.
