When do ya'll think she'll calve? :)

Exact breeding date was 10/15/05, calving date by CT's gestation table is 7/24/06.

Pictures in chronological order,

February, 105 days bred

Let's see some guesses! :) I'm going to guess...she's not going to go to her due date. 8)

Nice udder for a nurse cow.
My guess is sunday morning the 23rd. Right after you get your church clothes on and one leg in the car door.

Hold on a second! Ya'll have to guess that she's going to have a HEIFER calf. 8) :P That's what my vet said when he did an ultrasound (but mentioned he's 80% certain) and the cow needs to have a heifer calf. LOL. With several hundred dollars in difference between a heifer and a bull ya'll know which one I want. ;-)

Cert, LOL -- in my Sunday best -- yes, she would do that to me, wouldn't she?! :P

(Hope she doesn't, though!)

7/17 early morning. Heifer. !!

I'd almost lay money on it.

A quick edit for clarification;

Before I commit to this wager, a couple of :?: :?: , does the winner of this lil contest retain said heifer calf at weaning?

Or does winner get a sizeable monetary endowment for the duration of said heifer's life?

Milkmaid,

She won't make it a week without calving. It would help to have seen the udder a couple of days ago but she looks like she's about to domino in the next few days to me.

 You can have a picture of the calf to use as the background of your computer screen. :P 8) And/or you can name the lil bugger.

That's the same thing I'm thinking. I'm checking on her on a regular basis around the clock, starting tonight. She was grazing tonight, but that doesn't mean a thing to me. Some of them go off feed before calving and some don't.

I did take some pictures two days ago...cropped one of her udder...compare it to the one I took today. Not sure if it helps as they're slightly different angles, though.

Absolutely. Looking at the crop and today's pics, she should domino within a couple of days. I have little experience with holsteins. What I have noted with theone I have is that she shows more with their udder than with anything else. She never did "spring" in the same manner as my others.

my holsteins were always hard to tell about. i finally learned to wait until their bags got full, then add 5 days to that. lol. then i'd look at them while they were laying down and see how far i could see up in there. my holsteins tended not to dilate at all until right before they calved. i'm talking about they would go from no dilation to hanging open (well as much as a holstein does!) and if you saw pink she would have a calf within 36 hours. so milkmaid, i have a little photo project for you...

Was going to agree with Warpaint but I am always a day late and a dollar short so it must be the 16th.

Beefy... LOL, remember, you asked for it. :P It was getting dark and picture isn't the best, sorry. Besides the fact that to get the best pic would have involved getting down on my hands and knees...don't want to know what the neighbors would have thought! (she's pastured outside our renters' house :P)

are flukes a problem up there. thats what popped in my head when i started reading and then i saw you talk about it.
