Gooseneck hitch question???

Help Support CattleToday:

I believe we need a bit more info here before we can help?

Is the hitch homemade or store bought?

>If homemade, what type? between rails underbed, above bed,etc....
>If homemade, what will be the backing plate you are mounting to?
>If homemade what is the width of the backing plate material?

>If store bought, what bolts came with the hitch?
>If store bought, What does the instructions say?

I would check on having a good B&W brandd hitch put in. I just had one put one in my 06 Chevy 3500 for $400 You can build one for cheaper, but what if you do and it fails? Lawsuits cost more than that. I like to save money, but if I am towing a heavy load, I am not going to go cheap and hope it works

Yea, I agree with Tulsagreenhorn. I have that same hitch
in my truck. I like the idea, that I can turn the ball upside
down so I can slide item's into the bed without the ball
getting into the way. And I never have to worry about the
hitch failing. :D

Grade 8 11/16ths.

How did you come up with an 11/16th. bolt?
Grade 8 for sure, 1/2 or 5/8 dia. seems more reasonable.

Oh, I pulled it out of my ........... Actually I was working from memory. I used the bed bolt holes and if memory serves me right the bed bolts on the Ford were 11/16ths. I was able to reuse two of them but two were too small. I went to Tractor Supply with one of the originals and put a nut on it and then got the right size bolts. I love buying them by the pound rather than each.

I also have brackets attached to the frame with bolts running through the bed into these brackets.

Then again I might be wrong. If so it's the first time this year.

My old truck had a 3/8" plate on top of the bed and it was bolted in with 1/2" bolts.

My new truck has a Turnoverball.
