Just found out yesterday that the Federal govt. has appropriated the monies promised right after gustav hit for recovery. Something like 17 million is earmarked for our parish, with it all going to FARMERS to rebuild fences, clean up debris, etc. I'm not the handout type person, but with all of the things I'm looking at rebuilding, this may be a god send.
Anyone else in the area of gustav's disaster declaration would be wise to check it out. Contact your local USDA office (or FSA office in particular) - they tell me that January 10 is the last day to apply to receive benefits. Not to often that cattlemen qualify for govt. assistance.
