Georgia Boots

Mine is up just before Louisville in November. I'm not gonna make it. :(
First year for the wolverine boots though. That might be the problem. That is what I get for being frugal.

I've abandoned leather for ballistic nylon, can;t remember off hand what they call the stuff in boots. Also steel toes. Really hold up well, usually about 2 years a pair.

Ya, tell us Dun. Ollie and I are in the market for a new pair.

Here is what I am buying next. I have never worn out a soul from redwing but the upper that used to go with this soul was a one piece toe. They always cracked at the bend of my foot. I switched to the white soled boot with the two piece leather "top stitched" and never had a problem with the leather but wore the sole out. Now they have this boot I think all my problems will be solved. I never wear a insulated boot , they make my feet cold.

C'mon up this winter for a visit - I think I probably have a boot that you might need - unless you like cold feet.

Checked my Red Wings and it says made in the USA of U.S. and Imported parts. still hard to beat.

From the time I was 12 or 13 until a few years ago, I was a "Mason Shoe" dealer. They had a factory in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and the bulk of their shoes and boots were made there. The company was founded in 1904, supplying lumberjacks with boots. A few years ago, they discontinued the dealer system, and began sending catalogs to everyone. Now they no longer tell where their shoes are made.

For the most part, they made some of the best boots and shoes I've ever used. I've had as many as seven years service out of their boots, with about two to three years of everyday service before the comfort side of things started breaking down. I am talking about a combination of working ten hours a day in a cabinet shop on concrete floors, and all my extracurricular activities as well. I was told that Mason and RedWing sold some styles that one made for the other. The boots that lasted the longest were boarhide with a cushion sole that was guaranteed to outlast the upper, and it did, but it took a several years.

Hey ollie, your year is up. Did you get your new pair of boots?

I got mine today. The man at the boot shop even gave me an extra bottle of oil to take home. They already give you one when you buy the Red Wings.

When he asked why I went with the redwings this time...I told him I liked the Made in the USA stamp. hehe, musta been the right answer cause I went home with $6 worth of red wing socks too. no charge.

Almost forgot how good a new pair of boots feel on the running gears. I went with the pull on type. Steel toed. Wear well and don't get hung in the stirrup. And the critters can step on my toes and not do too much damage. I'm too lazy to lace them up.

I just hate it when I decide the next year not to go with the steel toes. I spend the 1st 2 weeks re-learning to move my feet out of the way.

Sorry I know this kinda an old post but just haven't been on much lately. So heres my opinion.Wolverines are the only things worn around here for workboot's.Lucky Us is a fairly big guy and the DuraShock in them is wonderful for him.He is flat footed also. When he worked on the rigs he did wear RedWings. But only because I hadn't talked him into Wolverines yet.Found him a broke in pair from a yard sale(his RedWings tore out on the side of his foot in between Paychecks)They lasted a little over a year. Now all we by are pull on Wolverines. He is on his feet all day(about 12 hrs.a day)and no leg or foot pain at night. For dress boot he wears Naconna Boots.I live in my Ariat FatBabies.Comfot Deluxe. For work or going out.

I wear Danner's. They cost more at about $200-250 a pair but they out last everything else I have tried by two or three times. They are still made in America. I have worn Georgia, Rockies, Wolverine, and others, I only get about a year out of them. With a re-sole job or two I get at least four years out of a pair of Danner's. And they are comfortable on the feet which is important because I live in them.
