They are as big as quarters and their bite feels like you have been stabbed. Have any of you Floridians encountered any of these, sounds like something from a scifi movie.
 
They've been here for awhile. I've seen them the last 4 years. Not quite as bi as a quarter but they're really big. Like being stabbed, not quite. But they are crazy big. First time I saw one I thought the local nuke power plant had leaked out some.

Looks close enough to quarter size to me--they could easily straddle one for sure.
