Frozen Tail

Well I didn't lose any yet but this fall heifer calf must have gotten a frost bitten tail. I saw it today. I don't imagine I need to clip off the distal caudal bones????

Hey, I never thought of that. I just saw it today and thought it was all of this cold. I bet it was stepped on.
 
Yep. Betting on another cow stepping on it and degloving it.
Have a couple that have had that happen in the past year.

Have seen cows on high-endophyte fescue slough tails/tailswitches - but those look like you'd applied an elastrator band onto them - sharp line of demarcation, and no bloody coccygeal bone remaining.
