I have never heard of vultures killing anything - they are actually pretty weak - wow, that was new.

The black vultures are extremely aggressive. They don't have to be strong to kill a calf on it's way into the world. They'll also destroy a cows vulva in the process. I've seen it, ain't pretty.

The turkey vultures are benign as stated before. Unfortunately they seem to be on the decline as the black vultures no doubt out compete them. I haven't figured out yet what accounts for the amazing fecundity of the black vultures. You might see one or two turkey vultures near an animal carcass and there will be literally dozens of black vultures.
