I'm interested in how they grade for quality and yield.
I know you have some REA, Marb and Fat EPD averages for your herd.
How long and what have you been feeding them?

I have 3 kill dates and I'm doing one USDA each kill date and a big cow all the others custom. We are located just north of Pensacola Florida but i use a processor in lucedale Mississippi.

We been feeding them all along since weaning in may but really started feeding 2% of body weight first of October. We are feeding CPC developer which is a 14% feed. The last month they been getting 7 lbs of cracked corn along with with the CPC.

Hopefully you have all of that beef sold or else you're going to need a lot of freezer space.

Thanks. Yes these are all fall calves. We have expanded our farm to include freezer beef. My mom (gizmom) still wants to do the genetics with the registered cattle. She's just being more strict in what stays bulls. I plan to expand this part of our operation. There is a new processor coming to Atmore, AL the end of 2023 that will processes 25 head a day. This will allow us to expand even more.

Are they all about 15-16 months old?

Yep, we have a pretty short calving season so they will be end of September to end of November calves.
Yours look great put on some nice weight.
I have two steers I'm finishing out and they will be around 15-16 months at the butcher date that was available. I wasn't sure if they would be heavy enough or not by then.

Weight at 15-16 month old depends on genetics, how soon you start feeding, and how much you are feeding. Lots of variables.
These steers were fed out properly. Good job - but I wouldn't expect anything less coming from Gizmom's genetics (both cattle & family - LOL)

Yes I'm blessed that she put some really good cows together and we have the genetics to perform. It's important to manage these steers correctly from the start. We fed them a little since weaning in may but really started managing them in October when we got the first weights and wormed them. We have weighed them each month and have adjusted the amount of feed. My goal weight is 1300 pounds I only hit that with 2 this go around but setting up butcher dates well over a year out it's hard to hit every time. Still happy with how they turned out. I rather them be a tad under finished than over. Just my opinion.

Biggest thing is I hope our customers enjoy them as much as I think they will.
