Has anyone had any success with mineral supplements as a preventative for fescue toxicity? If so, please let me know what you are using. I understand that there may be commercially available mineral mixes that address this problem. Thanks for the help.

I am using one that Southern States is mixing for us that seems to help a little. It was developed by VA Tech by taking soil samples and blood samples from the cows and seeing what was needed. I still have some problems but it is better. Your area would probably be different but the state university might be able to do the same thing there.

I believe bovatec or remensin are both effective in reducing the toxicity problems. If you can't find a mineral with one of these already in it, you can probably buy one or the other in the "concentrated" form and mix it in the mineral or feed yourself. Your feed store should carry them and be able to give you the proper dosage.
